Due to the effects of Mother Nature this week and the weather people "guaranteeing" rain for most, if not all of Saturday, we are postponing Saturday night's point racing and bicycle races until Saturday, April 25th.
Everyone have a safe and enjoyable weekend and we will see YOU next Saturday night at the legendary Tri-State Speedway!

Races postponed due to rain.

This weekend at the legendary Tri-State Speedway, not only will the high-octane race cars take on the famous high banks, but the kids will get their first chance to do the same on their bicycles.

This Saturday night will be the first of five monthly bicycle races for the kids. There will be both girls and boys classes and divisions will be set depending on the number of entrants. Helmets are recommended, but not required.

The kids will be competing for a girl's and boy's bike presented by Menasco Racing Enterprises, not only this weekend, but for each of the other four monthly bicycle races!

The pit gates open at 4 PM and the grandstands open at 5 PM with racing scheduled to start at 7 PM. Come on out early and enjoy some of the great concession stand food before the race program and don't forget to bring the kids, their friends and their bikes.

We will see YOU soon!

Kids on bikes!

On a night that only be described as surprisingly pleasant for early April, with a green flag temperature of about 75 degrees and the ever-present southerly breeze, another night of point racing for the 2015 season got underway at 6:45 PM.

The first order of business this week was to honor last weekend’s (April 4th) A Feature winners with their trophies and photo taking on the pass through in front of the grandstands after the pre-race ceremonies of the invocation and the national anthem.

Heat racing action for all 53 cars took to the track just a few minutes past the 7 PM mark and were ran without too many cautions taking the grandstand crowd on hand to intermission a little after 8 PM. The intermission break of about 20 minutes gave everyone the chance to stretch their legs a little as they walked to the all-new concession for some of the awesome BBQ sandwiches, ribs, burgers and hot dogs, as well the requisite fries and nachos, while washing it all down with some ice cold Coca-Cola products. Some of the crowd even took advantage of the desert offerings as several plates of funnel cakes were seen throughout the grandstands as the feature racing began on the famous high banks.

The first A Feature action was for the Pure Stocks with Miranda Carver (40 – Lockesburg, AR) taking home the win over the previous two week’s winner Dennis Slader (19 – Muskogee, OK) while Pure Stock newcomer Wesley Bourne (5 – Cameron, OK) rounded out the top three.

The Front Wheel Drive A Feature had Cody Smith (13 – Booneville, AR) crossing the finish line ahead of Roger Rusher (3 – Ozark, AR) while Tom Paulson (4 – Spiro, OK) crossed the line in third.

The Factory/I Stocks ran a Dash-For-Cash with last week’s feature winner, Chris Patterson (48 – Muldrow, OK) taking home the winner’s money. Shelly Carver (48X – Lockesburg, AR) finished second and Jerome Heinrich (4+4 – Huntsville, AR) in third.

The IMCA Modifieds took to the track next for their A Feature.  Tate Cole (89 – Fort Gibson, OK) made it three for three in 2015 at Tri-State Speedway with another win ahead of Van Gemmill (21 – Ponca City, OK) and Zane Hunter (1/2 – Alma, AR).

In the Super Stock feature competition, Neil Johnston (17 – Fort Smith) worked hard for his first A Feature win of the season as Robert Knowles (44K- Buffalo Valley, OK) finished ahead of Gene Davlin (26 – Shady Point, OK) in second and third respectively.

The last feature on the track was the IMCA Sport Mods. 14 year old Kayden Menasco (49 – McAlester, OK) took over the lead just past the midway point in the feature from Ryan Adams (25 – Fort Smith, AR) who finished third behind Logan Ellis (118).

Racing is scheduled to continue on April 18th with another night of point racing in Pocola, OK for all regular classes plus the first bicycle races for the kids. Tri-State Speedway will be giving away a boys and girls bicycle each month of the 2015 racing season, except for the very hot month of July. Be sure to bring the kids out next weekend for their first chance at winning a FREE bicycle. You may bring one bike, but leave with two!

Pit gates open at 4 PM with the grandstands opening at 5 PM. The green flag is set to drop on the racing action at 7 PM. We will see YOU soon!

Finally, a week with no rain, ice or snow! It seems that Mother Nature has been playing a round of “How Much Can We Mess with the New Track Surface” at the legendary Tri-State Speedway. For almost every week of the last 12 weeks, there has either been inches of rain, ice or snow on the 350+ dump truck loads of new clay that was dumped onto the old racing surface. As a result of the adverse weather conditions, the track surface for last weekend’s season opening 36th Annual Cecil Harlan Memorial Kegger were not what we would hope/strive to have.

With a full week of predicted rain and storms, almost no rain, if any, fell on the famous high banks in Pocola, OK.  As a result, this weekend’s races were started on time, with a lot fewer cautions from spins and accidents;  a wide, smooth and fast track; warmer temperatures and a healthy grandstand crowd that witnessed a competitive racing program that saw a few repeat winners from last weekend and some new winners, as well.

This weekend also saw the Easter Bunny make an appearance at intermission with candy for the kids and free photos! The photos can be picked up next weekend at the track. This weekend’s races and Easter festivities were sponsored by Menasco Racing Enterprises.

Results from Saturday night’s action saw two racers make it two in a row with another three winning their first feature of the year.  In Pure Stock action, Dennis Slader (19 – Muskogee, OK) notched win number two of the season at Tri-State Speedway, while Cody Collingsworth (10 - Rudy, AR) finished second followed by Chris Perkins (88 – Rudy, AR). In the IMCA Sport Mod class, Aaron Scroggins (1/4 – Neosho, MO) picked up the A Feature hardware and check with Todd Broyles (09 – Farmington, AR) right on his rear bumper and Kayden Menasco (4960 – McAlester, OK) finishing in third.

Factory/I Stock action saw Chris Patterson (48 – Greenwood, AR) win his first feature of the season, with Kris Vaughn (35 – Pocola, OK) in second and defending class champion, Jerome Heinrich (4+4 – Huntsville, AR) in third. Kyle Slader (19S – Muskogee, OK) took home the win for the first time in 2015 in the Super Stocks, while Gene Davlin (26 – Shady Point, OK) found the high line late in the race to finish second ahead of Neil Johnston (17 – Fort Smith, AR).  In the IMCA Modifieds, Tate Cole (89 – Muskogee, OK) made it two for two with his A Feature win as Danny Womack (3 – Bixby, OK) crossed the line in second ahead of Van Gemmill (21 – Ponca City, OK).

Complete race results, including heats, and current points can be found by clicking on the Results menu or by clicking here.

Racing action continues this coming Saturday night with another round of high-octane, edge-of-your-seat, door-to-door action on the famous high banks with another night of point racing as we celebrate 45 consecutive years of racing in 2015. Pit gates open at 4 PM with grandstands at 5 PM. Racing is scheduled to start at 7 PM. All of our information can always be found here on our website and all of our social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and YouTube.

We will see you soon!

Although Mother Nature didn't provide much help this past weekend, the 36th Annual Cecil Harlan Memorial Kegger, presented by Smith Auto Group is now in the books.

Racing action was set to start on Thursday night, March 26th, with an open practice session, but rain during the night and early morning forced the cancellation and also caused everyone to take on the track Friday night for qualifying without any seat time on the new surface and configuration.

During the winter the track changed ownership for only its fourth time in its 44 year, storied history. With the new ownership also came the change in sanctioning to IMCA, improved and rebuilt facilities and a new track surface. The changes included rebuilding some of the under-structure of the grandstands, improvements to the bathroom facilities and a brand new concession stands, both upstairs and down. The racing surface received 350 loads of new red clay, a slight decrease in banking and wider turns creating a very wide, multi-groove racing surface.

Mother Nature didn't just have her hand in this past weekend's activities, but also for most of this year. When the new owner, Carey Menasco, was finally able to get the new clay hauled in, we had snow, rain and ice for a few weeks in a row causing a lot of the new red clay to absorb a lot of moisture deep inside. Even though the surface was smooth and even dusty at times, the moisture in \the low grooves of both turns kept creeping up to the surface causing those areas to be extra soft and to develop some ruts during Friday's qualifying races. Track prep was undertaken again and once again, the track was smooth early on Saturday night for last chance qualifying and main features, but Mother Natures’ previous actions came back once again with the soft clay in the bottom of the turns. However, with the new wider turns, there were two alternate lines above and below the soft area if a driver chose to run them.

Friday’s qualifying action saw 82 cars challenge the legendary track for their chance at locking into the top four A Feature positions or the top four B Feature positions. The top A Feature qualifiers were Dennis Slader (19 - Muskogee, OK), Andrew Bohanan (X - Stigler, OK), Gene Gore (76 - Muldrow, OK) and Clifton Drummond (21JR - Mountainburg, AR) in the Pure Stocks; Aaron Scroggins (1/3 - Neosho, MO),  Levi Chipp (66 - Hampton, IA), Kyle Stevens (12X - Tahlequah, OK) and Logan Ellis (118 - Wagoner, OK) in the IMCA Sport Mods; Jay Anderson (D28 - Springdale, AR), Mike Wiseman (DT1 - Muskogee, OK), Chris Patterson (48 - Greenwood, AR) and Wesley Taylor\r (3 - Eufaula, OK) in the Factory/I Stocks; Danny Womack (3 - Bixby, OK), Tate Cole (89 - Muskogee, OK), Ronny Gould (1 - Calera, OK) and Daniel Tarkington (3X- Checotah, OK) in the IMCA Modifieds; plus Neil Johnston (17 - Fort Smith, AR), Dale Richardson (327 - Muskogee, OK), Dylan Davlin (26D - Shady Point, OK) and Mikey Bell (7X - Red Bud, AR) in the Super Stocks.

Saturday's action got underway at 7:40 PM with a memorial parade lap by the drivers, being escorted by vehicles from the Smith Auto Group, during the National Anthem for former longtime owner and promoter Cecil Harlan, as well as for the recent passing of Truman Phipps who was known by many for his racing, chassis building and friendship. The parade lap was followed by a trackside interview with Cecil's daughter Tamyra Hanna, who also waved the first green flag of official racing for the night. With 110 cars on hand for last chance qualifying, the action was fast and furious. With bone-chilling wind gusts at 30 mph, the fans in the packed stands were definitely ready for some warmth from some of the great new food items from the new concessions including some mouth-watering, finger-licking BBQ ribs.

The B Feature winners from Saturday night included Miranda Carver (40 - Lockesburg, AR) in the Pure Stocks, Kayden Menasco (49 - McAlester, OK) with his first feature win in the IMCA Sport Mods, Andrew Bohanan (7A - Stigler, OK) in the Factory/I Stocks, Kyle Slader (19S - Muskogee, OK) in the Super Stocks, Steve Muilenburg (33 - Sparta, MO) in the IMCA Modifieds, James Poe (919 - Gravette, AR) in the Front Wheel Drives and Carl Tuck, III (6 - Kibler, AR) in the Mini-Stocks.

The big money winners from Saturday night included, Dennis Slader (19 - Muskogee, OK) in the Pure Stocks, Steve Muilenburg (39 - Sparta, MO) in the IMCA Sport Mods after repairing his car from a roll over on Friday night, Andrew Bohanan (7A - Stigler, OK) in the Factory/I Stocks, Dale Richardson (327 - Muskogee, OK) in the Super Stocks, Tae Cole (89 - Muskogee, OK) in the IMCA Modifieds, James Poe (919 - Gravette, AR) in the Front Wheel Drives, Christopher Tuck (6T - Mulberry, AR) in the Mini-Stocks and Dillon Rupe (52 - Broken Arrow, OK) in the Late Model Dash for Cash.

Racing continues this weekend, April 4th, with regular point racing in all classes, plus the Easter Bunny will be on hand for free photos and candy with the kids.
