THE EVENT

POCOLA, OK (September 9th, 2017) – Round one of the $10,000 September to Remember four-week championship event is now in the book with 65 cars in four classes taking on the famous high banks in Pocola, OK. Mother Nature, after all of the early season rain outs, has apparently decided she likes the racing at Tri-State Speedway as she once again gave us perfect racing weather with a slight southerly breeze and temps in the low 80’s during the day and low 70’s during the event. Once again, the track was in top-notch form, even with a small amount of last-minute watering that took place in Turn 2 that caused a slight delay in getting the racing action underway.

The pre-race ceremonies started at 7:59 PM with the invocation and the playing of the National Anthem.

Heat race lineups for all four classes competing in the September to Remember event were determined by the driver’s draw at sign in each night. The classes advanced to their features via their finish in their heats. Plus, the last heat winner in each class drew a number for the number of rows to invert for the A Feature.

At intermission, everyone had a chance to grab themselves some of the great food items from the concessions including the ever-popular funnel cakes for desert. Everyone also had a chance to get a good deal on close-out track shirts from Kevin with Cuztom Graphics at the T-shirt booth. Race winners from the previous week also were on hand during intermission to get their trophies and photos taken.

TOP THREE

The Factory Stock A Feature was on the track first and saw Andrew Bohanan (51 – Stigler, OK) claim his fifth win of the season.  JR Owen (79 – Pocola, OK) crossed the line in second place over Wesley Bourne (5 – Cameron, OK).

Up next was the USRA B-Mod A Feature. Kevin Guinn (788 – Fayetteville, AR) went to Victory Lane for the fifth time this season as Dean Green (28 – Siloam Springs, AR) took home second place over Daniel Tarkington (Checotah, OK).

The Super Stock A Feature hit the track next. Danny Womack (3 – Bixby, OK, OK) captured his first win of the season at Tri-State Speedway. Dylan Davlin (26D – Shady Point, OK) replicated his second-place finish from the previous week ahead of Brian Parker (210 – Owasso, OK).

The USRA Modifieds took to the high banks last for their A Feature. Johnny Bone, Jr. (12 – Pea Ridge, AR) was able to pick up another win, his third in as many races at Tri-State Speedway. Tate Cole (89 – Fort Gibson, OK) took home second over a fast Kyle Ledford (75 – Greenwood, AR).

All race results, including heats are available by clicking on the Results menu. The current top three drivers in each class are also posted there, as well as full season point standings for each class are available by clicking on the Points menu.

Just a reminder that none of the $10,000 September to Remember events count toward, or will affect, their season track points. The last points race for the classes will be the 47th Annual Points Championship races on October 7th, 2017.
