THE EVENT

POCOLA, OK (June 17th, 2017) – The seventh points race of the season at the legendary Tri-State Speedway was met with better than expected weather conditions. With temps in the mid-80’s versus the predicted 95+ and a light southerly breeze, the fans and drivers were able to enjoy a nice mid-June evening at the facility in Pocola, Oklahoma.

The pre-race ceremonies started at 8:00 PM with the invocation and the National Anthem for the drivers and fans. Due to some last minute track maintenance, the first heat race received their green flag at 8:20 PM.

Heat race lineups for all classes, except the IMCA Modifieds, were determined by the driver’s draw at sign in. The IMCA Modifieds followed the published rules for that class, which utilizes the driver’s point average for starting positions. The classes, that drew for their starting heat position, advanced to their features via their finish in their heats. Plus, the last heat winner in each class, other than IMCA Modifieds, drew a number for the number of cars to invert for the A Feature.

At intermission, everyone had a chance to grab themselves some of the great food items from the concession stand along with an ice-cold Coca-Cola product to wash it all down. Fans were also able to visit with the ladies from the River Valley Chapter of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and help with their fundraising efforts. Plus, it was our annual BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse) Night at the track. At intermission, Big Dog took over the microphone and let the public know what BACA does and why they are needed.

TOP THREE

The first race on the track after intermission was the USRA B-Mod A Feature where DustinsDream.net driver, Dean Green (28 – Siloam Springs, AR), repeated his feat from the previous week by taking the win over Todd Broyles (09 – Fayetteville, AR) and fellow DustinsDream.net teammate, Paul Harper (7X – Fayetteville, AR).

Next was the Pure Stock A Feature that saw Andrew Bohanan (33B – Stigler, OK) win for the first time this season while driving a car he built for someone else. Wesley Bourne (5 – Cameron, OK) crossed the line second ahead of Marshall Penson (1P - Van Buren, AR).

The next A Feature was for the IMCA Modifieds. Jason Payton (6 – Greenwood, AR) returned to Victory Lane for his third win of the season. Jake Davis (7D – Hackett, AR) finished in second and Kayden Menasco (49 – Muldrow, OK) crossed the line in third.

Next up was the Super Stock A Feature where Brian Slader (19S- Muskogee, OK) ran down race leaser Dylan Davlin (26D – Shady Point, OK) and captured the checkered flag while only leading the last few feet. Gean Davlin (26 – Shady Point, OK) finished third.

The USRA Modifieds took to the high banks next for their A Feature. Trevor Latham (27L – Rogers, AR) found the very high line to his liking and rode the rim for the win. Brent Holman (17 – Rogers, AR) took home second place over George Martin (15 – Fort Smith, AR).

Complete race results for the event are available by clicking on the Results tab. The complete track point standings in each class are available by clicking on the Points tab.

THE EVENT

POCOLA, OK (June 10th, 2017) – The sixth points race of the season and the second appearance of the season for the Southern Outlaw Late Models at the legendary Tri-State Speedway was met with absolutely wonderful weather conditions. Temps in the mid-80’s and a light southerly breeze greeted fans and drivers as they rolled into the famous facility In Pocola, Oklahoma. Once again the track prep crew did a phenomenal job and provided everyone a three and four-wide racing surface for the entire night.

The pre-race ceremonies started at 8:04 PM with the invocation and the National Anthem for the fans and the 85 cars on hand.

At intermission, everyone had a chance to grab themselves one of the “Tommy burgers”, fried bologna and fresh smoked BBQ sandwiches and other food items that Audrey and her crew had cooking on the grill along with an ice-cold Coca-Cola product to wash it all down. Plus, our T-shirt vendor, Cuztom Graphics, had new Tri-State Speedway track shirts in a variety of colors to choose from and some new items for the kids, too.

THE EVENT

POCOLA, OK (May 25th – 28th, 2017) – The 1st Annual Super Stock Triple Threat Weekend, presented by Bravado Wireless and JRT Trucking, Inc., and fifth points race of the season for the USRA B-Mods, IMCA Modifieds and the USRA Modifieds, at the legendary Tri-State Speedway was met with different weather conditions for each of the four nights. Temps in the mid-80’s for practice night, mid 90’s on night one, storm threats on night two and perfect conditions for the final night created different track conditions for the drivers and track prep crew each day. Everyone worked hard and the racing surface produced three and four-wide action on almost every night of this first annual event.

This event, which new track promoter Tommy New had been wanting to have for several years, featured thee complete race programs for the featured Super Stock class over three nights, each paying $3,000 to win. This format allowed for cars to pick which nights they wanted to run and if they had a bad draw or a bad break on the track, they had multiple chances to start over from the beginning on the other nights of the event. The support classes ran a complete show, as well, on each of their nights.

The pre-race ceremonies of each race night started with the invocation and the National Anthem. The final night of the event, included a memorial reading, a moment of silence, the playing of Taps and the National Anthem while drivers paraded around the track with American flags in a salute and remembrance of our fallen military heroes.

The race program each night started with heat races for each support class, plus the featured Super Stocks. Plus, the last heat winner in each support class drew a number for the number of cars to invert for the A Feature. Each race night, 12 Super stocks were locked in from their heat race finishes with the next 10 coming from two B Qualifiers and the final two positions coming from promoter provisionals which went to the highest track point car, not in the A feature and a random draw from the other remaining cars not qualified.

At intermission each night, everyone had a chance to grab themselves one of the new “Tommy burgers”, fried bologna and fresh smoked BBQ sandwiches and other food items that Audrey and her crew had cooking on the grill along with an ice-cold Coca-Cola product to wash it all down.

TOP THREE – NIGHT 1

The first race on the track after intermission was the first of two B qualifiers for the Super Stocks that saw Tony Anglin (G1 – Walnut Ridge, AR) take the win over Ty Evans (5E – Fort Smith, AR) and Jim Philpot (25 – Greenwood, AR) in third.

Next was the second of the Super Stock B qualifiers where Robby Arnold (60X – Paragould, AR) cross the line first as Dennis Schoenfeld (43 – Van Buren, AR) and Kyle Slader (19S – Muskogee, OK) battled it out for second and third, respectively.

The next feature was for the USRA B-Mods. Daniel Tarkington (2- Checotah, OK) took the win ahead of Chad Summerford (Centerton, AR) while Johnny Virden (1V - Russellville, AR) finished third.

The last A feature was for the Super Stocks big money, 33 lap race. Dylan Davlin (26D – Shady Point, OK) was the one to beat as he led all 33 laps to claim the first of the weekend’s $3,000 paychecks. Kevin Salter (23 – Batesville, AR) ran a close second while Robby Arnold (60X – Paragould ,AR) finished third.

TOP THREE – NIGHT 2

The first race on the track after intermission, for the second night, was the first of two B qualifiers for the Super Stocks that saw Robby Arnold (60X - Paragould, AR) take the win over Andy Morris (127 – Fort Gibson, OK) and Grant Davis (1 – Muldrow, OK) in third.

Next was the second of the Super Stock B qualifiers Brandon Henry (Ozark, AR) cross the line first as James Flood (42 – Crane, MO) and Robert Knowles (44K – Buffalo Valley, OK) battled it out for second and third, respectively.

The next feature was for the IMCA Modifieds. Kayden Menasco (49 - Muldrow, OK) took the win ahead of Tate Cole (49C – Muskogee, OK) while Jason Payton (6 – Greenwood, AR) finished third.

The last A feature, for the second night, was the second of three big Super Stock, 33 lap races. Robby Arnold (60X – Paragould, AR) only needed the last two feet to claim the next $3,000 paycheck of the event, as he made up eight car lengths in two laps to take the win away from Tony Anglin (G1 – Walnut Ridge, AR) in a great side by side battle through turns three and four to the finish line. Burl Woods (135 – Republic, MO) brought his ride home in third.

TOP THREE – NIGHT 3

The first race on the track after intermission, for the third and final night, was the first of two B qualifiers for the Super Stocks that saw James Flood (42 – Crane, MO) take the win over Dan Morris (27 – Fort Gibson, OK) and Boone Johnson (10 – Hulbert, OK) in third.

Next was the second of the Super Stock B qualifiers where Brandon Henry (8H – Ozark, AR) cross the line first as Tommy New (43N) and Jimmy Douglas (21 – Spiro, OK) battled it out for second and third, respectively.

The next feature was for the USRA Modifieds. Johnny Bone, Jr. (12 – Pea Ridge, AR) took the win ahead of Kayden Menasco (49 – Muldrow, OK) while Brent Holman (17 – Rogers, AR) finished third.

The last A feature of the event was for the final Super Stock, 33 lap race, big money race. Robby Arnold (60X – Paragould, AR) made sure that everyone knew the previous night’s win was no accident by putting an exclamation point on the weekend with back to back wins. Tony Anglin (G1 – Walnut Ridge, AR) ran a close second while Gean Davlin (26 – Shady Point, OK) finished third. Arnold also won the two person, all expenses paid Garner’s Outdoor Adventures, Inc. hunting trip, valued at $2,100, from TA Motorsports and TLA Trucking by having the highest average finish of all three day competitors with a third place finish and two first place wins.

It's getting closer and closer every day!

The 1st Annual Super Stock Triple Threat Weekend presented by Bravado Wireless and JRT Tricking, Inc. will be here before you know it. This Memorial Day Weekend, the only place to be for the high-octane thrills of dirt oval racing excitement is at Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, Oklahoma. The track used to host a big Memorial Day Weekend race for many years back in the 70's and 80's and we've decided to re-instate that tradition.

Bravado Wireless         JRT Trucking, Inc.

The track's new promoter, Tommy New, has always wanted to host a "triple threat" event and with him taking over the reigns of the 47 year old facility, the perfect opportunity presented itself. Tommy, has promoted a few times in the past at other tracks and never had the opportunity to execute his idea.

The event format will feature three separate nights of racing for the Super Stocks, which is different from a lot of other big events in the country where there is qualifying one night, or nights, and then features on another night. This event format will give a driver three separate chances of snagging the big $3,000 winner's check. If a driver has a bad heat draw, has an ill-handling car, etc. they get two more chances to try to get the winning combination figured out. Plus, with only a $100 entry fee each night for a chance at $3,000 to win and $300 to start the A feature, this event is affordable to a lot more drivers than a high dollar entry fee.

Not only will the Super Stock drivers get three chances at winning the $3,000 prize money, TA Motorsports and TA Trucking are presenting the highest average finishing driver with a hunting trip at Garner's Outdoor Adventures, Inc. in central Arkansas. You can click here or on the logo below to learn more about Garner's Outdoor Adventures.

The Super Stock class, also know as Street Stocks or Grand Nationals in some areas, is a stock-appearing class that allows drivers a lot of options for their car, but limits their engine options while still allowing them to be high horsepowered fast machines. Tri-State has held a summer, multi-day format $5,000 to win Super Stock event for 18 years that routinely draws 50-70 cars, so Tommy hopes that this format will draw even more cars, as they will have, not only one, but three chances at taking home the big money.

The event will start with an open practice session on Thursday night, May 25th, from 7 PM to 10 PM with pit gates opening at 4 PM for pre-race tech. Grandstand gates opens at 5 PM with free admission and pits will be $20 for adults and $10 for kids (6-12). Friday night, the 26th, pit gates will open at 4 PM, for pre-race tach, for night one with point racing for the USRA B-Mods. Pit passes will be $35 for adults and $15 for kids (6-12). Grandstand gates open at 5 PM and admission will be $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (65+) and $5 for kids (6-12). Draw will end at 7:00 PM sharp. Driver's meeting is scheduled for 7 PM with hot laps at 7:30 PM.

Saturday night's (27th) action will see another complete night of Super Stock action, along with point racing for the IMCA Modifieds. Gate times and pricing will be the same as Friday's. Sunday night, night three, will be the final night of the event with the last chance for the Super Stocks to take home the $3,000 paycheck, along with point racing for the USRA Modifieds. Gate times and pricing will be the same as Saturday's and Friday's.

The rules for the Super Stocks will be the published 2017 track rules which can be viewed by clicking here.  All drivers will draw for heat race positions each night. The target number of heat races is six, but may be adjusted depending on car count with laps to be determined by number of cars per heat. The top two cars from each heat will lock into the A feature. A maximum of 12 cars will be locked in to the A from the heats.  The remainder will be placed heads up into one of two 15 lap Qualifying Features. The top five cars will transfer heads up to the back of the qualified A feature cars. The 23rd and 24th starting positions will be determined by track promoter. The A feature will be 33 laps. The A feature payout is: 1) $3,000 – 2) $1,500 – 3) $750 – 4) $600 – 5) $550 6) $500 – 7) $480 8) $470 – 9) $450 – 10) $440 – 11) $430 – 12) $420 – 13) $410 – 14) $400 – 15) $390 – 16) $380 – 17) $370 – 18) $360 – 19) $350 – 20) $340 – 21) $330 – 222) $320 – 23) $310 – 24) $300

1st Annual Super Stock Triple Threat Weekend

Due to Mother Nature's plans last night, for tonight and for tomorrow, we're forced to cancel this weekend's racing action on the famous high banks at the legendary Tri-State Speedway.

Cancelling a race is not something that we like to do, but sometimes it must be done in order to give our drivers a great racing surface and to give our fans a great night of racing.

Our next event will be the 1st Annual Super Stock Triple Threat Weekend on May 25-28, 2017 presented by Bravado Wireless and JRT Trucking, Inc. Complete information on that event can be found by clicking here.

We'll see YOU then!

THE EVENT

POCOLA, OK (May 13th, 2017) – The fourth points race of the season at the legendary Tri-State Speedway was met with perfect weather conditions courtesy of Mother Nature, along with 117 racers wanting to prove they’re the best. With temps in the mid-80’s and a slight southerly breeze, the track prep crew was able to get the track into a very raceable surface. Even though there was, once again some late week rain, the racing surface produced three-wide action all night, including some four and five-wide late model action.

The pre-race ceremonies of the invocation and the National Anthem started at 8:05 PM, just a few minutes past our scheduled start of 8 PM, which is the scheduled start time until further notice.

The race program started with heat races for all five classes, plus the Southern Outlaw Late Models. Plus, the last heat winner drew a number for the number of cars to invert for the A Feature.

At intermission, about 9:45 PM, everyone had a chance to grab themselves one of the new “Tommy burgers”, fried bologna, fresh smoked BBQ sandwiches and other hot food that Audrey and her crew had cooking on the grill.  Also, the winners from those races that were on hand had their trophies presented to them.

TOP THREE

The first race on the track after intermission was the USRA B-Mods for their A Feature Hunter Byers (88B – Rogers, AR) return to Victory Lane for his third win of the season as Daniel Tarkington (2- Checotah, OK) finished in second ahead of DustinsDream.net driver, Dean Green (28 – Siloam Springs,AR) in third.

Next up was the Pure Stocks for their A Feature. Adam Gipson (20 – Lavaca, AR) was able to “flip the script” from last week and take home his first win of the season as last week’s winner, Wesley Bourne (5 – Cameron, OK), finished in second ahead of Marshall Penson (1P – Van Buren, AR).

Next was the IMCA Modified A Feature where the roles were reversed from last week as Jason Payton (6 – Greenwood, AR) took the checkers for the second time this season. Last week’s winner, Kayden Menasco (49 – Muldrow, OK) finished in second over new-comer Bryce Clark (K1 – Conway, AR) in third.

The next feature on the track was for the Super Stocks. Kyle Davis (19S – Muskogee, OK) picked up his second season win over a Brandon Henry (8H – Ozark, AR), who finished third last week. Third place went to Gean Davlin (26 – Shady Point, OK). Normally, we only post the top three here, but it was notable that Dylan Davlin (Gean’s son) finished close behind his dad in fourth.

The USRA Modified A Feature was up next and saw Lonnie Robins (33 – Alma, AR) take home his first first place finish of the year over a fast Brian Williams (26 – Fayetteville, AR) and Myles Newman, III (III - Alma, AR).

The last feature race of the night went to the Southern Outlaw Late Model Series and saw Rick Hearnsberger (XXX – Arkadelphia, AR) turn in a dominating performance. Clay Julian (00 – Alma, AR) finished in second ahead of Hank Long (52 – Stilwell, OK).

The last event of the night was the $1,500 to win, 100 lap Enduro which saw 31 drivers start the vent from a standing start on the front straight. From the start, a car stalled on the outside entrance into Turn 1 and became on obstacle for all of the other 30 cars to avoid for 100 laps. At the end, Kyle Slader (44 – Muskogee, OK) picked up his second win of the night over Jesse Brooks (43 – Batesville, AR) and Jay Rierson (6 – Booneville, AR).

Complete A Feature results for the event are available by clicking on the results link. Current track point standings are available there, as well.
